Since its small beginning at 215 E. Recent annual sales have been in excess of nineteen million dollars. A branch office has been open for over 20 years in Columbus, Georgia.
AEC was incorporated under the laws of the State of Alabama in June 1961. It is a nonunion company. It holds unlimited electrical licenses in the states of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Maryland, Mississippi, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Louisiana, Arkansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Utah and Wyoming.. It holds an unlimited general contractors license and mechanical license in the states of Alabama, Tennessee, and Arkansas.
The company originally began business in the sales, repair and service of electric motors. Although this remains an ever increasing producer of income for the company, management has sought to diversify the operations to broaden the customer base and take advantage of other business opportunties. Shortly after its incorporation, it entered into the electrical construction field. Over the years, AEC has built a reputation second to none, for superior, quality workmanship in general electrical construction. This continues today to be the largest producer of income for the corporation.
In 1986, AEC entered into the mechanical construction field so it could offer a complete package of rigging and installation of manufacturing production equipment, including all necessary air, steam and water piping. With this diversity and combination of electrical and mechanical skills, AEC was able to offer a turn-key job for the constuction or refurbishing of any industrial plant. At that point, the company operated five major divisions:
Electric Motor Repair, Sales
and Service
Electrical Construction
Machine Shop
Metal Fabriciation
Mechanical Construction
A 19,600 square foot facility
was constructed to provide support functions for the mechanical construction
operation. Other areas of business into which AEC expanded were Automated
Control Technology which provided for the design, build and installation
of control panels and systems including programmable controllers with report
generation capabilities, and; Conveyor Fabrication and Installation. All
of the endeavors were entered into for the purpose of providing a more
complete service to our customer base.
This is the business cornerstone around which the company was originally formed. This division currently occupies a 16,000 square foot facility which contains the most modern equipment available for the routine and special service needs of our customers. The Motor Shop offers its customers the following services which are available for emergencies on a 24 hour, 365 day year basis:

The management of AEC believes that a successful construction project is the result of a team effort. Specialists within each organization pool their collective efforts in order to coordinate design, estimation, processing and procurement with the installation in the field thereby maximizing productivity. Such an approach not only enhances profitability, but helps assure the project is completed within the time and budgetary limits established by the Owner.
The planning, scheduling and mastery of the details of installation are mandatory if satisfactory results are to be achieved. This demands close coordination between the Owner, Architect, Engineers, General Contractor and the Subcontractors. At the Subcontractor level, the same close coordination must be achieved between the estimator, project manager and the field personnel performing this installation.

Problem Solving

Manpower Organization
In order for a business to achieve outstanding accomplishment in the service it performs, it is necessary to have an organization composed of individuals properly trained for the task to which they have been assigned; these individuals must maintain suitable communications so that one specialist can pickup where another leaves off for the ultimate achievement of organizational and project goals.
The belief that human resources are
the foremost ingredient in installation work is evident and undeniable. Productive
man hours of work can only be achieved if field personnel are familiar with
the project and goals; and, if the contractor controls the procurement and
supply of the right materials to the job in the right quantity at hte
right time. The implications of this philosophy are undeniable.
